      OBITUARY. MR. JOHN LOVE-94th YEAR.
The long life of a good man ended when Mr. John Love passed to his rest on Tuesday morning, having passed the 93rd milestone and well into his 94th year.
As a lad he came to this district with his parents from County Fermanagh, Ireland, where he was born, nearly eighty years ago, and their first home was at Omega where he, with his brothers, Hugh and Thomas, went to school. In later years, by thrift and industry, Mr. Jno. Love acquired a valuable property 'Nethervale", in the vicinity, and married one of a pioneer family in Miss Catherine Moses, of Gerringong, who predeceased him some years ago, also a married daughter in Mrs. Fred Wilson.
Ever a public- spirited man, he early in life made himself a recognised unit in the progressive movements of the district. He stood by co-operation and was one of the earliest, with Messrs. J. Devery, H. Colley and others to agitate for the formation of the Country Milk Suppliers Association, and in that organisation he took a con- structive interest, and on occasions, by voice and action, upheld the principle of a united stand on the part of the producers in getting a fair deal. Though always firm in the conviction it was only worth while to keep a good cow, a good horse awakened him to a keener enthusiasm. To him there was not a finer thing in the brute creation.
In the earlier years of the Kiama Agricultural Society, he was a valued member of the committee, president in 1902, and chief steward in the horse section for many years when horses were a feature of the show, and right through life unitil it taxed his strength to attend the meetings, his advice was appreciated, his presence honoured, as was shown by the committee in mak- ing him an honorary life member and patron of the Society. Though kept to his home by bodily weakness these last few years, his interest never slackened and he kept in touch with all the activities of the Society, keenly alive to all that concerned it.
Municipal affairs were followed too, so in the days of health and strength he served the ratepayers faithfully on the Jamberoo Council, as an Alderman of the South Ward and also filled the Mayoral chair. In his day, Mr. Love may truly be said to have served his generation faithfully and well, and he gave a helpful hand where all our pro- gressive and charitable movements were concerned.
He was one of the earliest members of the Masonic, Protestant Alliance and Orange Lodges, a consistent mem- ber and supporter of the Church of England, he lived an exemplary life, and left an honoured name to his children, who are worthily carrying on his good work for the district.
Mesdames Arthur Grey (Kiama), Jas. Nelson and G. Nelson (Gerrin- gong), S. E. Smith (Kiama), Mrs. Price Katoomba (Violet) and Mrs. Tooth (Jessie) Sydney, are daughters. Messrs. H. Love (Riversdale), J. Love (Nether- vale), and T. Love (Omega) are his sons. A devoted attendant and nurse was his youngest daughter, Miss A. Love, who during long years of attention and nursing, has seldom left her father's side. Fortutnate indeed was he, surrounded .by her loving care, and that of his married daughters liv- ing in the district, who also spent much of their time in his home, that they might assist in caring for him and he was very happy in the affection and thought of those he loved.
With him has passed, in a historical sense, a wonderful knowledge of the district and the times he passed through.
The funeral took place at the Church of England cemetery, North Kiama, on Wednesday, and was largely attended, the Rector, the Rev. J. W. A. Watklnson officiating.
