OUTLIVING HIS INCOME. On Tuesday, at Derby, a meeting was held of the creditors of Edwin Ernest Mather, residing at Rock Cottage, Middleton-by-Youlgreave, near Bakewell. The statement of affairs showed gross liabilities amounting to £864 2s., and assets £5, and there was a deficiency of £797 2s. The alleged cause of failure was " excess of expenditure over income." The Official Receiver's observations were to the effect that the debtor had been out of busiress for six years and his only income had been small amount earned as an insurance agent. The furniture which was said to belong to his wife, was claimed under a bill of sale given by her and the debtor on April 30. The Estate was left in the hands of the Official Receiver. - Derby Daily Telegraph - Monday 13 June 1892

Re Edwin Ernest Mather, formerly an insurance agent, now of no occupation. He was last in business, he said, five years ago as a bleacher and dyer at Manchester. Since then he did a little as an insurance agent, when earnings varied from £2 to £10 year. At the time he gave up business at Manchester paid his creditors in full, with the exception of his London tailor, who was now a creditor. He had done a little betting, but only a sovereign or so. He had never been employed as a racing agent.—Examination closed. - Thanet Advertiser - Saturday 28 June 1902
