  Liverpool Echo - Wednesday 26 July 1961 DIES AT NINETY Former Vicar Of Bidston The Rev. Thomas Mather Standring of 20 Ashburton Road Birkenhead, who was vicar of Bidston Parish Church from 1903 until his retirement in 1938 died today at Birkenhead General Hospital after a short illness, aged 90. Mr. Standring was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge, and served as a curate at Chester and Wallasey before being appointed vicar at Tilstone, Cheshire, which he left to take up the living at Bidston in 1903. For many years he served on the old Birkenhead Board of Guardians and was also a member of Wirral R.D.C. He leaves a widow and one son, Mr. G. H. M. Standring. who is a Liverpool solicitor.
