  The Frobes Advocate Friday 14 February 1941 OBITUARY Mr. Herbert Bathgate The death of a life-long resident of the Forbes district, in the person of Mr. John Herbert Bathgate, took place on Tuesday night in the Forbes District Hospital, where he hod been an inmate on a number of occasions within the past couple of years. Deceased, who was 55 years of age, was the son of Mrs. and the late Mr. Bathgate, of Parkes Street, old and highly respected pioneers of the district. Deceased was a man of kindly disposition, ever ready to lend a helping hand whenever the opportunity arose. Deceased leaves a widow and family of seven children — three sons and four daughters. The sons are Messrs. Don., William and Keith (Forbes), while the daughters are Mrs. D. Treherne (Bourke), and Misses Joyce and Patricia (Forbes), and Jean (Sydney). Deceased also leaves three brothers (Robert, Lionel and Len.), and two sisters, Miss Lil. Bathgate and Mrs. W. Leahy (all of Forbes). The funeral on Wednesday afternoon moved from St. Laurence's Church to the Catholic portion of the local cemetery. Rev. Father Brady performed the last sad rites at the graveside, while Mr. A. G. Jones had charge of the mortuary arrangements.
