  The Forbes Advocate Tuesday 28 May 1946 OBITUARY Mr. Robert McKay Although he had been an inmate of the Forbes District Hospital for the past three or four weeks, the death of Mr. Robert McKay, at 6 a.m. yesterday, came as a surprise to his relatives and friends, as only the previous day his condition had improved to such an extent that he had been moved out on to the verandah, and he was confidently looking forward to returning to his home this week-end. A heart attack carried him off suddenly. The late Mr. McKay was 52 years of age, and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George McKay, of South Forbes, old and highly respected residents of the town. The deceased, who was living in Flint Street, had been conducting a vegetable run for some months, but became ill after returning from a fishing excursion during Eas- ter. He leaves a widow (nee Miss Emily Higgins) and family of six children—Ralph ( A.I.F.) , Zoe (Sydney), Noel, Leslie (Leo), Jean and Enid (all residing with their parents). In addition, four brothers and four sisters survive —Messrs. Michael, Roy, Clarence and William McKay (Forbes), Mesdames A. Rath, I. Robb, A. Ellison (Forbes), and Mrs. E. Sparkes (Condobolin). Deceased was a prominent member of the Buffalo Lodge, at Forbes, and held the highest degree, Knight of the Order of Merit. Members of the Lodge will march at his funeral, to move from the Presbyterian Church at 11.30 o'clock this morning, and are asked to assemble outside the Vandenberg Hotel at 11.15 am. Deceased was also a well-known cricket and tennis player in his younger days. Mr. A. G. Jones has charge of the mortuary arrangements.
