A life-long resident of the district, Mr. Thomas S. Higgins, of Browne St., recently celebrated his 78th birthday.
He is a native of the district and was born at Old Bandon, Cowra Road, in January, 1865, living in the district ever since. In 1886 he was married to another Forbes native in Miss Lydia Burt, in St. John's Church of England, Forbes, by the late Rev. Ephriam Dunstan The issue of the marriage was seven children, and all are living with the exception of one son. In addition the aged couple have 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Of the male section of the grandchildren, four are in uniform and one was lost with the sinking of the Sydney. Hale and hearty, Mr. Higgins still actively follows his usual occupation.
