  Manchester Courier and Lancashire General Advertiser 01 December 1901. Wills and Bequests The Estate of a Manchester Engineer. Mr John Cross, C.E. of Manchester and Beaucliffe, Aderley Edge, who died on April 15, left property of the value $117,994 19s 7d., of which $91,316 14s 6d. is net personalty, and his will of January 12, 1900, has been proved. The testator bequeathed to his wife, Mrs. Sarah Jane Cross, $500, an annuity of $600, all his personal aricles, and the enjoyment of the furniture and domestic effects; to his son Thomas Oliver, $12,000; to his daughters Frances Ann, Emily Sarah and Ada Alice, $6,000 each; and to his grandson, John Cross Cunliffe, $3,000. He devised all his real and leasehold property to his son William Haslam, and left the residue of his estate to his two sons in equal shares.
