1811	Perth Advertiser April 8, 1961 The funeral of Mr Alexander Gibbons, Drumgrain Terrace, took place to Methven New Cemetary on Wednesday. Mr Gibbons, son of the late Mr & Mrs A. Gibbons, died suddenly on Monday. Of a quiet and retiring nature, his death has cast a gloom over the village where he lived for over fifty years. Mr Gibbons was an office-bearer in the Methven Church and is survived by his wife and three daughters. The Rev S. Kennedy conducted the service at the graveside.	Family (F118)
1812	Perth Advertiser January 3, 1968 Record Service for Lady Member of "G.A." Staff Miss Grace Gibbons, private secretary to Mr A. MacDonald, chief general manger of the General Fire and Life Assurance Corporation Ltd, has retired after almost half a century of service to the Corporation. This is a record for any lady member of the staff, and it is a record which is most unlikely will ever be broken. A presentationwas made to Miss Gibbons by the chairman of General Accident, Sir Stanley Norie-Miller, Bt, exactly 49 years to the day since she first commenced work at General Buildings, a few months after the First World War. After congratulating Miss Gibbons on her record career, which was distinguished not only by length of service but also by her great loyalty to the Corporation, Sir Stanley Norie-Miller handed over a cheque on behalf of the directors, and a silver tea set and inlaid gate-leg table on behalf of colleagues and members at head office, a very large number of whom attended the presentation to wish her well in her retirement. The first job of Miss Gibbons was in the coupon department. She progressed through the motor department, taking her turn at typing out motor endorsements, until in 1923 she became shorthand typist to the late Mr J. Robertson Kidd, with whom she remained until he died in 1940. After seven years with the late Mr John Stewart, she was appointed as executive secretary, serving successively with Mr Leslie Nye, Mr C.W.R. Little and, since he became chief general manager three years ago, Mr MacDonald. Looking back with pleasure on her long career, during which she has seen vast changes and made many friends, Miss Gibbons has said that it certainly does not seem as long as 49 years. She is sure she will miss her friends, but will keep in touch with many of them by continued participation in Gaflac social and sporting activities. She is president of the Scottish country dancing section which meets at Norrie-Miller Park, and captain of the ladies section of the Gaflac Golf Club. Miss Gibbons resides at 29 Muirton Plave, Perth. Drummond, Bankers, Charing Cross, has Absconded, with Money of the amount of Three Hundred Pounds, the property of his emplyers. - The said Robert Walter Eyre is about twenty one years of age, about five feet seven inches high, of fair complexion, light hair, without whiskers, slight made, and of genteel address. He is supposed to have had with him, when he went away, a green baize Bag and a small Leather Portmanteau. - A Reward of One Hundred Pounds will be paid by Meesrs. 1823	Portsmouth Evening News 8 May 1891 The Late Clerk of the Peace - The will, with a codicil, of Mr. Thomas Hughes Earle, barrister-at-law, Clerk of the Peace for Hants, formerly of 34 Fellows-road Hmapstead, and late of Enham-place, near Andover, Hants, who died on February 3rd, was proved on April 27th by Mrs. Isabel Earle, the widow, Frederick Whitting, Vice-Provot of King's College, Cambridge, John Smith and Thomas Lamd, the executors, the value of the personal estate exceeding $126,000. The testator gives his lease-hold house, 34 Fellows-road, and all his household furniture and effects, either there or at nay other house or chambers he may have, and $200 to his wife. The residue of his real and personal estate he leaves, upon trust, for his wife, for life or widowhood, and then for his children or issue as she may appoint. This work was carried out with great spirit and success for forty years, by Messrs Richardson and Co., when it was let by the present proprietors, Sir John Richardson of Pitfour, and Robert Smythe, Esq. of Metheven, to Messrs William Turnbull and Son. Under the energy and activity of the present lease-holder, the work has now become one of the first in Scotland. At present about 40 Scotch acres are covered with cloth. The quantity whitened annually is about a million a-half of yards, besides from 80 to 100 tons of linen yarn, for a power-loom factory in the neighbourbood. 1840	Posted on Ancestry 10 Oct 2018 by heather fleet In July 1818, at the age of 20, travelled North from melvaig to Lochinver to embark for the crossing to Stornaway Lewis from where, as one of the 150 passenegers, he boarded the brigantine 'Perseverance' under the command of Capt Hector McKenzie bound for Nova Scotia, where they landed 6 weeks later (20 Aug 1818) at the port of Pictou, Nova Scotia. To the best of our knowledge, the McKenzie's were not followers of Norman McLeod, but rather the attraction of startig a new life in a new land, with the automatic gift of 200 acres of land from the governent at the time, was the attraction that drew Alexander to Nova Scotia. Nearly 40 years later, with all his family except sons Duncan and Donald, who remained inNova Scotia, Alexander and Annie were on the move again to New Zealand aboard the barque Breadalbane (224 tons). Clearing the NS port of Big Bras D'Or on 24 Dec 1857 with 160 passengers. the Breadalbane dropped anchor after a voyage of 5 months, in the Waitemata Harbour, Auckland, NZ on 21 May 1858.
