My gggrandparents, Alexander GIBBONS (1853-1910) and Margaret McGREGOR (1853-1896) were married in Tibbermore Church on 24th March 1876. Margaret’s family had lived and worked in the parish since the late 1860’s. In fact there is a large headstone in the old graveyard that was initially erected for Margaret’s father, Peter McGREGOR (1824-1891) who died in 1891. Other family members are also buried in the graveyard and included on the headstone. However, the stone is in poor condition and it is very hard to read the inscription.

Unfortunately, Tibbermore Church is no longer in use and is falling into disrepair. However, the church has now been taken over by The Scottish Redundant Churches Trust which is a charity dedicated to the preservation of Scottish churches of all denominations. The trust has an interesting website with sections for the history of Tibbermore Church and the current project to preserve the church.
